I have been going through my personal photo's from the past year and thought I would share a few of my favorites in no particular order.

Well, it has been a very long time since I have posted anything here. I mostly don't get much work during the colder months since most of my photography is outdoors. However, I did have one session in December and I just haven't shared it with you because either I or my family has been sick for a good two months, however we all seem to be much healthier now and I am excited to get back to all things photography!

I finally finished editing these pictures for this sweet family. They were temporarily put on hold due to a week long illness circulating in my family. Hopefully we will all stay healthy now and I can get my session from last night up much quicker!

This was such a fun family photo shoot! I could post so many more pictures but I guess I have to stop somewhere. I really loved the location and the lighting was so beautiful that evening!!

Well... it's that time of year again. I always take my family out in October to get pictures. I love fall colors and then we have great pictures for our Christmas card. (Hint: if you are wanting fun pictures for a Christmas card, now is the time to get them.) Anyway this year I got a little wiser, I always set my camera on a tripod and timer to take our pictures, but the result is always my little boys not able to hold a pose or smile long enough for the camera to actually take the picture. So, we traveled to KC and had Aaron's brother and wife help us out. They did a great job and I am so thankful!! Also, included in this post is my youngest's two year pictures. Enjoy!!

Busy!

I feel like there has been such a neglect as of late to my photography due to a very busy season in my life. Actually, it is mostly due to lots and lots of changes going on here in our household. First of all I have started a new job at our church supervising the paid caregivers. This has included trying to get people hired before Bible study started (I'm still working on that). I also have started watching a couple of kids twice a week and last of all we are expecting baby number three. Now not any one of these things have been too overwhelming but when I combine them all together with a little morning sickness there have been some busy days. That being said I think things are calming down and we are getting into a schedule around here and with the weather changing I am super excited to get started on photography projects again. So what better way to kick off the fall season than with a session with twins!! These two are so sweet and they had such a long journey to get home from the hospital (they were born somewhere around 27weeks premature). Enjoy!

A Busy Summer!

Well this has been a very busy summer for us. Partly why I haven't posted anything for awhile. I'm finally getting caught up on pictures and thought I would post a little update on our summer.

These boys love to swim!

This little guy loves pop way too much at such a young age.

These pictures were taken after a family water balloon fight the boys had a lot of fun running through the sprinkler with there dad, I even went through a couple of times with them!

My oldest had his first sleep over ever with his cousin. They had so much fun together and surprisingly went to sleep pretty well that night.

This was such a great photo session! It was perfect weather (not hot like today) and the kids were so cooperative. I think dad did a little jig behind me to get some great smiles, but it didn't take much to make these to sweeties giggle.

This photo session almost had to be shot inside due to rain. I'm so glad we had the few minutes in between rain showers that we did because these are great pictures!! Also, I took these at a new location that I have never shot at before and let me tell you it is now one of my favorite spots for pictures. The best part is that it is only one block from my house, how convenient!

50th Wedding Anniversary

A couple of weeks ago I got to photograph a 50th Anniversary party. This couples' daughter in-law put the surprise party together and the whole time I couldn't help imagining my boys someday throwing a 50th Anniversary party for Aaron and I. I have to admit it seems pretty impossible that they would be able to pull this off. I also couldn't help but think of how old my little boys would be by that time, 46 and 43 it's really hard to imagine my boys all grown up. Ok, I think I really got off subject, here's the pictures of the event.

What to Wear

Do you ever wonder what to wear for a photo shoot?
Well my first answer is to wear your favorite outfit, whatever you feel the best in. There are a few other things you might want to consider. Dress your family in coordinating colors but not necessarily all the same color. I didn't use to know what to tell families to wear so I would suggest maybe all white and though this worked at times because the white made them really pop against the background. Overall I wouldn't suggest this anymore. Think texture, layers, and accessories! Ruffles, sweaters, scarves, hats, ribbons, buttons and bows-all of these add dimension and interest to your photos. A Picture a Day

Vacation!!

Over Memorial Day weekend we went on vacation to Branson, MO! The kids loved it!

We took the kids to the Butterfly Palace in Branson.

They gave the kids binoculars, magnifying glass, safari hats, and bugs to ride around and explore the butterflies with.

Outside there was a coconut tree climbing area. The kids were to little to do this so we decided to give it a try instead.

Then we headed to Springfield and went to a drive through Safari. The kids laughed and laughed when the animals would come up to our car looking for food!

We did lots more, this is just the highlights!

Baby Boy

I have been busy lately, a good busy. This is the third of four photo shoots I did in one weekend! I also have been so excited to get to take so many baby pictures! This little guy is two months old and he is pretty strong holding his head up so well already! Keep checking in (or like me on Facebook for updates) because I get to take pictures of newborn twins either at the end of May or the beginning of June! This will be a first for me, I'm so excited!

Have you met my Sister?

Have you met my sister? She's pretty amazing! A quick history of her-When she was 25 she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, went through treatment and we were all very hopeful that would be the end of the story. But a little over a year later it was discovered the cancer was back and in her bones this time. (This is an extremely short story of everything she has been through.) Anyway, her husband (who is also a pretty amazing guy, he loves her so well and knows just how to take care of her) threw her a huge surprise birthday party or her 33rd birthday. It was lots of fun and very emotional. There was around 130 people there! We had all made videos that included Happy Birthday messages, kung fu fighting and encouraging messages which her husband had put together in a very powerful video to share on her special day. Here are the pictures I took that day!

She's extremely beautiful even though this is the third time she has had to grow her hair back!

Here is her birthday cake along with a a special Dr. Pepper cake, her favorite drink (favorite might be under emphasizing how much she likes it).

Her husband also sent away to many "Stars" her story and received many signed pictures with little messages for her on them! Here are just a few out of the many pictures.

After the party the family all got to ride in a limo to go out to eat. My boys particularly loved this! It was such a great day and we are all so happy to get to celebrate with her!

This sweet little boy is my best friends second baby. I had fun photographing him, but I don't think the feeling was mutual. Despite that I think we got some really great shots. These are my favorites!

Here is big brother. He was so excited about his baby brother it was so sweet! He was also a great model when I was testing the light.

Well these two cuties are all mine! I sure do love them and all they do and say. They definitely make life interesting! On a side note I have been noticing lately that this blog seems to lessen the vibrancy of the colors in my photos, I wonder why that is?

Photo Class

Well as some of you know, I started taking the New York Institute of Photography's course on "The Complete Course in Professional Photography" three years ago. I finally finished it!!! The truth is I had the last assignment pretty much finished a year ago, but we had our second baby and the assignment got forgotten until my three year deadline came up. Anyhow, I'm just so glad I finished it and I am so thankful for my husband who started me on this course three years ago!!!

K-State Wildcats!

Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day. Ours was fairly uneventful or maybe you might say it was eventful. We have been dealing with coughs, colds and snotty noses around here for awhile. Well since Aaron had to work late last night and the boys had received McDonald's gift cards for Valentine's Day from the grandparents I thought we would enjoy some Happy Meals. Well the boys begged to get to play in the play center. I should have known better but thought maybe it would be OK for a little bit. Let me just say we left because of a throwing up episode, it was quite embarrassing to have to inform the other mother's and McDonald's that there was throw up in the play center. Anyway, we went home and the boys went to bed but the evening got better as our K-State Wildcats beat KU! This would have been a really exciting game to be at. I even enjoyed it on TV which honestly I don't get that into watching sports on TV. Anyway we did get to go to a Wildcat game earlier this year and had a blast so here are some pictures from that game.

An Experiment: Lawrence, KS Photographer

I have been wanting to try some birthday cake smashing pictures for a one year old. So, I thought, well, my boy is just slightly older than one so he would make a perfect first subject. This didn't go quite like I thought. He didn't get into the smashing,in fact, the frosting on his fingers made him a little upset. Who would of thought? He got his foot in the cake and didn't like that!

Then his hand touched the cake and he let out a few unhappy squeals!

In the end big brother couldn't wait to take part in the cake smashing!

Later that day his nose started running and I realized he hadn't been feeling very good. I thought it was so odd that my sweet tooth boy who is always playing in his food didn't want anything to do with this cake. Oh well, anyone else want to have a cake smashing photo session with me, I'll provide the cake?

Well Christmas is over and boy did we have fun! Here are several pictures (in absolutely no order at all) to recap the fun!

A Picture Update

Here is a quick update in pictures of life around our house this past month.

This was at Thanksgiving, my sister put her glasses on N. Doesn't he look so grown up?

A large tree in our backyard was cut down in early December. This is our wood pile from the tree. The boys really enjoy playing on the leftover stump.

J put most of the ornaments on this one branch of our Christmas tree. I rearranged them later but he definitely noticed it the next day.

N has a small fracture in his left wrist from a fall off our couch. The Dr. said it will heal in a week. Isn't that amazing!

J and I decorated a gingerbread house last night.

It has been awhile since I have posted anything. Mostly because I haven't had any photo sessions since June. It's been ok though because we've been quite busy. We moved to a new house in July. Do you know how hard it is to unpack with two children under 3 years old and a husband who had to work lots of overtime for most of July? We still have boxes in our basement to unpack, my goal is to have it done by my son's 1 year birthday (Sept. 29).
OK, since you aren't getting to look at any of my pictures I thought I would share with you a couple of photographers blogs that I look at daily because I LOVE their work. Surgery

It's been a little while since I've posted anything. It's not because I have nothing to share

it's just that we have been a little busy around here. First we bought a house and painted, cleaned carpets, and moved in all in the first week and half of July. This alone has kept me from even getting to the pictures that I have recently taken. (Rest assured if you are waiting on your pictures from me, I am back to working on them.) I also have had two dentist appointments in the midst of all of this to get cavities and crowns (ugh, I really hate going to the dentist). Really the only good thing about the dentist was that I got to lay down in a comfy chair for an hour and a half and watch TV. Yep, my dentist gives me headphones and a remote and I can watch TV while they work on my teeth. It really helps me since I have a slight nervous breakdown when I hear the words cavities and crowns. OK and last of all my little nine month old boy had to have surgery on Thursday. Now this really wasn't anything at all, he was born with a tied tongue (a little piece of skin that holds his tongue down in his mouth so he can't stick it out, poor guy inherited it from me). So they had to cut the skin so he wouldn't have a speech problem. Since he was a baby he had to be put under. It really wasn't anything the whole ordeal only took a few minutes, but none the less it made this momma a little nervous to have her baby put under. So I will leave you with this picture of him having a ball crawling around the hospital before the surgery.

Names and Wedding's

So it seems that I have been asked lately about my photography name, so I thought I would take a moment and explain where Jane's Angle came from. The simple answer is Jane is my middle name and it seems to just roll off the tongue so much better than Kristin's Angle or Kristin's photography and so on. Jane has also been a nickname for me pretty much my entire life. As a little girl my mom babysat other kids and one of them was Kristin, we called her by her first and last name and everyone called me Kristin Jane, this was everyday for years so it pretty much is second nature to me. To shorten it my sister started calling me KJ, sometimes my mom would call me Janey baby (ok that was one I was against being called in public). When Aaron and I where dating he called me (and still does) Janer (sometimes it really catches people off guard when he calls me Janer and I respond). So when my sister and I where brainstorming names for my photography we didn't think twice about using Jane.

Now to share a picture of a wedding I did a couple of weeks ago. I will be sharing more in another post.

Day Dreaming

I was dreaming of a wonderful picture where both of my boys were sitting close to each other, maybe even big brother would have his arm around his little brother and they were smilng and looking straight into the camera. As you can see I was only dreaming!

I can't believe this kid is already 6 months actually he is almost 7 months old. Phew! Two kids under 3 has definitely kept me on my toes! This little man started crawling when he turned 6 months old and within two weeks he was pulling himself up on furniture and today I saw him take a few steps while holding onto the couch. I have to admit I thought our other boy was quick to crawl/walk but I wasn't expecting this little guy to be faster at getting to this stage. I guess he just wants to run with the big boys! On another note, I debated a long time on the tea cup prop but in the end was glad I used it because without something to contain my little mover every picture would of been of him crawling away!

A big thanks goes out to this family as they played a large role in getting me started in professional photography. Before I had ever taken any classes or even had my SLR camera they liked my pictures and asked me to take some wedding photographs. It was such a fun experience that my husband bought me an SLR camera and helped me find a photography course that I could do from home. Almost three years later I am still taking pictures for this family and many others!

Please, please, please pray for my sister! She has been battling cancer for almost 7 years now. She has dealt with many ups and downs. She is once again waiting for results and we are hoping it is good. I hate this cancer with such great passion. It has robbed so much from my sister and everyone that loves her dearly. I admire her and her great spirit and will to fight.

I love to take pictures of babies! Isn't he just precious! This little guy was drowsy the entire session but it was difficult to catch his eyes completely shut or completely open as they were always half open. If you are interested in a newborn session please give me a heads up before your baby is born as the best time to do newborn pictures are in the first 10 days after he is born.

The other day we were getting out some of Jacob's baby clothes for Nathan. We ran across Jacob's lion costume that he wore when he was almost 6 months old. He was so excited about it he had to put it on. He ran around the house roaring for quite some time.

Projects

I love crafty projects. In fact one of my regrets was not taking a wood working class in High School. My latest infatuation has been sewing. I really don't know much about sewing except how to thread a machine and sew a seam, but I've been enjoying a few projects lately. Over the past several months I have made a nursing cover, a diaper bag, a couple of baby hats, a baby blanket, and some cloth diapers (yes I have made the switch to cloth). Wow, I didn't realize until I listed it that all of my sewing projects have been for a baby. A few notes about me and projects, 1)I'm really good at starting them but not so great at finishing them 2)I have no original ideas, many times I see something I like and tweak it a little (sometimes making it too complicated for me to complete).
Anyways here is a few pictures of the baby blanket I made for my new nephew born yesterday! I made a few mistakes, I just hope it doesn't unravel when it gets washed.

I didn't make these elephants, I bought the fabric this way. This next picture is my sewing machine. Isn't it great! My mom got it for me at a church auction. I can't believe nobody else out bid her for it.

Fall

Fall is such a fun time of year. I love the changing colors and the events that fall brings with it. It is also usually a nice time to get outside and enjoy some cooler air before it turns very cold. Unfortunately is has been a little hard for me to get Jacob outside to play during the day this fall since it seems a little cold to take Nathan out or he happens to be sleeping during the afternoon when the temperatures are at there best. So some days we have been feeling a little trapped but thankfully daddy comes home and takes Jacob out immediately, I think this is only going to get harder once we change our clocks again. Anyhow here are some pictures of our family this fall. ENJOY!

This year at the pumpkin patch there was a tire horse swing which Jacob really loved.

I'm not sure what's up with this smile but this is what happens if we tell Jacob to smile for the camera.

Every year in the fall we take family pictures. I have been keeping a scrapbook of just our family pictures so someday we can look back and see how our family changed throughout the years. This year is definitely going to be a milestone since we added a new member to the family.

So awhile ago I posted that I was wanting to challenge my creativity when it comes to photography. Below is a few pictures I have taken in order to stretch my photo skills.

theme suggested by the http://www.jpgmag.com/. I'm not overly
satisfied with my outcome.

The last three pictures I was having fun taking pictures of reflections in little puddles that we found along a path here in Lawrence. I really liked the outcome of these!

A New Site

Awhile ago I mentioned that I was ending my photography website janesangle.com. Which is still true it no longer exist do to it's practicality. However, I recently discovered I can have a website on google for free. So after playing with it for quite some time I do have an official photography website now, the down side is I don't posses an easy domain name, but hopefully that will come some day. On another note, my sister and her hubby visited us not that long ago and I got to take some pictures of them. Pay close attention to what I call the "LOVE" door. When we moved to Lawrence I immediately saw this door and couldn't wait to take pictures of a couple in front of it. Well, I finally got my chance and I think they turned out great!

Sweetest Moment

This boy is just the sweetest! The other night I went to put him to sleep (wishing Aaron was doing it instead of me). After reading our books we always rock for about five minutes and then he goes to bed. That night while rocking he reached his hand up and touched my face so I would look at him and he whispered "Special Mom, Happy Mom." Melt my heart!!

Vacation

About a week ago we boarded a plane and flew to Virginia Beach to visit Aaron's uncle who was turning 60. I think there was around 15 family members who all made it out there. We had a blast and so did Jacob. He handled the plane flight with flying colors! (better than me for sure!) He loved riding on Aaron's Uncle's boat, which he also got to drive for a little bit in the bay. I think by far the beach was his favorite, we were just a little bummed we didn't get more time in the ocean. It was a quick trip only five days and two of those days were spent flying there and back.

Photography Challenge

I have long been wanting to challenge my photography skills. Mostly my creativity. I subscribe to the JPG Magazine and their website www.jpgmag.com has some very challenging and enticing photography themes that I have decided to challenge myself with. The first one wasn't one of the most creative themes they suggest however I couldn't pass up this subject. The theme was "Great Outdoors." One evening after putting my boy to sleep I went outside to water my plants. This cloud was lit up so magnificently and it was so fluffy I just had to photograph it. It was amazing how quickly this moment passed. As the sun set the cloud lost its glow. It was so amazing Aaron even noticed it on his way home from class that evening and mentioned it to me before I ever showed him my pictures. Let me know if you have any great themes to challenge my creativity. Currently I am considering either "Color Theory" or "Foot Focus" for my next photo challenge.

Here are some family photos I recently took. I especially love the pictures in front of there wheat field! If you get to looking at them and start thinking the girl in the middle looks an awful lot like me, you’re right it's my sister! Doesn't she look amazing despite her battle with cancer and constant chemo treatments! She is a beautiful person inside and out.

I will be discontinuing my photography website for now. It just hasn't proven to be worthwhile. I will now be updating my blog more frequently with current pictures I've recently taken. Feel free to share my blog with anyone you think would be interested in my work.
On another note here is my son's two year pictures. It is so hard to believe how much he has grown over the past two years!! He recently moved out of his crib into his big boy bed without any problems our next step is to try potty training. I have to admit I'm pretty reluctant to start this adventure not because I want my kid to stay in diapers but because I'm not exactly sure the best way to go about this.

I have always loved newborn pictures. There is just something so beautiful and innocent about a little sleeping baby all wrinkled up on a bed. Unfortunately I have never had the opportunity to take these kinds of pictures since they pretty much have to be done within the first week after being born. If they aren't done quick enough then you have an alert baby that is trying to wiggle to much. So, I was so excited when my friend had her baby and wanted me to come take pictures. It was my first opportunity to take newborn pictures and I loved it! Here are a few of her precious little boy!

Ok, ok, I am really bad at blogging. This is a post I started to write back in January saved it and never got back to it. I decided to go ahead and post it, so enjoy a late post!

Recently the weather turned warm for a day, and our family decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and go for a short hike. This resulted in some pictures that I really love!

Obviously, as a photographer, I love to take pictures of my family, especially my boy. However, one disappointment that I have is he is not a great smiler for the camera. Thanks to my wonderful hubby and his great entertainment I did manage to get a few smiles out of my son for his 18 month pictures.

As some of you already know I really love photography and I have started taking pictures for people. Thanks to my husband I have a new camera and have taken some classes and am ready for the next big step. If you, your family, your children, or someone you know are in need of pictures taken then I would be thrilled to do it! I am going to charge $60 dollars for the photo session and a DVD with all of your pictures on it. That's right you get to keep all the rights to your pictures! The best part is that to start my photography business I am only going to be charging $35 dollars through the month of October. Here are some examples of what I have taken.
